Emissaries Of The Darkened Call: Three nails in the coffin of humanity (split)
10/10/13 || Cobal
This is a three way true black metal split in which Black Altar from Poland, Varathron from Greece and Thornspawn from the U.S. participated with 3 to 4 songs each. Yes, the three of them fall into the category of tr00 blackness, but as this work clearly illustrates, that can mean several things. Take Black Altar for instance: perhaps the nearest ones to the Norwegian tradition. Tremolo picking and cold minor melodies are their distinctive staples. Varathron on the other hand, will appeal more the lovers of other forms of metal. Indeed, their songs are much more riff-oriented and the vocals are not as piercing as Black Altar’s. And last but not least, we have Thornspawn, a band that’s consistent with the USBM movement. While their most furious and raw form of music did exhilarate me at first, not being able to understand shit out of their shitty production killed the whole effect. Me, I would recommend this release to genuine collectors that are constantly in search of unique limited releases, even if the music is not that… Errr… Unique.
8/10: I could use one of these myself.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
